Reaching new heights; how Iowans with Parkinson’s use rock climbing to help

GRIMES, Iowa – Rock climbing combines aerobic fitness with power and strength, while also providing physical, cognitive and social benefits. For people living with Parkinson’s disease, climbing can also be therapeutic.

Twice a month, Climb Iowa in Grimes opens its doors to people with Parkinson’s disease, allowing them to climb for free and challenge themselves on the wall. The sessions are held at 10 a.m. on the first and third Tuesday of every month.
