The person who brought the popular Whatcha Smokin’ BBQ to Luther now wants to fire up her grills and smokers in Slater.
Tanya Doyle, who sold the Luther restaurant in 2021, is opening a new barbecue restaurant in Slater, a community of about 1,600 a half hour north of Des Moines. The new restaurant, Boxcar BBQ, will be on Iowa Highway 210 on the western edge of Slater, near the High Trestle Trail.
