Des Moines sends plows back out to clear snow that remains on side streets

DES MOINES, Iowa – It’s been a week since the last measurable snowfall in Des Moines, but snowplow crews are back on the streets trying to clear as much as they can. According to measurements from the Des Moines International Airport, snowstorms dropped 8.3 inches on Jan. 9, 9.2 inches on Jan. 12 and 4.1 inches on Jan. 18. Subzero temperatures for much of that stretch led many streets to a slippery, frozen mess.
