Des Moines Police are investigating a shooting that injured two early Sunday morning.
Authorities responded at 12:40 a.m. to reports of gunfire coming from a function at a private event center at the intersection of Grand Avenue and East 22nd Avenue, according to a news release.
The two wounded victims were transported to the hospital. A juvenile was hospitalized for a non-life-threatening injury while an adult man was being treated for a life-threatening injury, the release said.
Officers say they were met with an “unruly and hostile crowd” while trying to secure the scene, leading to the arrest of two Des Moines residents, including a 21-year-old who was charged with assaulting an officer.
