Kum & Go is changing things up — again.
In 2022, the Des Moines-based convenience store chain launched a new menu, promoting a fresher fare than traditional gas station food. But, Kum & Go’s made-to-order selection will look a bit different this year as its new corporate parent, Maverik, works to align offerings between the stores.
The first thing you can say goodbye to? Made-to-order bowls.
Kum & Go’s made-to-order menu leaned into quirky ingredients. The bowls started with a base of brown rice, shredded cabbage and quinoa. The bowls included various meat offerings and included unique toppings like Corn Nuts or even Takis, the Cheeto-style tortilla chips.
The chain is working to offer “the best of both” stores on its new menus, said Michelle Monson, Maverick’s communications and corporate social responsibility director. Offerings like burritos, salads, wraps, pizzas and sandwiches will continue to be available.
Maverik, a Utah-based chain of convenience stores, bought Kum & Go in 2023, but has pledged to operate a regional headquarters in Des Moines.
