FORT DODGE, Iowa – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man killed in a Monday night crash between a pedestrian and a car. Authorities say 41-year-old Joshua Scott Laird of Des Moines was hit by a car while walking in the “traveled portion of the southbound lanes” of NW 2nd Street around 8:15 p.m. Monday. According to witnesses, Laird was wearing dark clothes and the area was poorly lit.
