ANKENY, Iowa — Morgan Eiben and her husband Matt started looking for daycares as soon as they found out they were pregnant with their daughter, Marleigh. They knew there was a shortage and found that some centers have a wait list as long as two years. The ended up at KinderCare in Ankeny and Morgan says the 14-hundred dollars a month price tag made her think the care would be exceptional. But there were concerns from the beginning with Marleigh frequently coming home in wet clothing, her hair matted with spit-up.
“So, basically from the start, we’ve had some concerns and they kind of just led up to the whole past year, where she’s been getting bit at least once every two weeks.”
Some toddlers bite. Morgan knows this. She’s worked in daycares and currently works with kids with behavior issues. She says her biggest frustration with KinderCare was the lack of supervision and reporting.
“Sometimes I was finding bite marks on her at night and she didn’t have those the previous morning when I dropped her off so I would reach out and ask about it.”
