One of the most visible January 6th rioters at the U.S. Capitol is now out of prison and in a halfway home in Missouri.
Doug Jensen, of Des Moines, was at the forefront of the mob chasing a Capitol police officer on January 6, 2021. He wore a shirt with a prominent “Q” on it to show his belief in the Qanon conspiracy theory, which claimed during President Donald Trump’s time in office he was secretly fighting a cabal of Satan-worshipping “deep state” enemies like the Hollywood elite and prominent Democrats. Those claims have proved baseless.
In September of 2022, Jensen was found guilty of seven charges:
- Civil Disorder
- Obstruction of an Official Proceeding and Aiding and Abetting
- Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding Certain Officers
- Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon
- Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds With a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon
- Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building
- Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building
