Car crashes into building, severs natural gas line in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa — A car crashed into a building and severed a natural gas line in Des Moines Tuesday evening.

At around 5:30 p.m. the Des Moines Police Department and Des Moines Fire Department responded to a report of a car vs. building crash near the intersection of 6th Ave. and Boston Avenue. When first responders arrived on scene they found a single vehicle had struck a building and severed a natural gas line. No injuries were reported.

Police said temporary lane reductions are in place as repair crews work to fix the broken gas line.
