City of Des Moines asks court to prohibit events center from operating at site of shooting

DES MOINES, Iowa – The city of Des Moines wants to prohibit further activities at an east-side events center wheretwo people were shot last month. The city alleges that the Aplauso Events Center, 2134 E. Grand Ave., has had problems dating back to 2020, including fights and shootings requiring a police presence. The latest incident happened early Jan. 28 during a private party – authorities are still looking for a shooter that injured a man and a juvenile male.
