Earlham girl’s wish for new school library finally granted

EARLHAM, Iowa — Sherlock Holmes is on the shelves, but you don’t need a detective to know who is responsible for Earlham School’s newly renovated library.

The library is one of Adeline Ory’s favorite places and when she was granted one wish, she knew exactly how to use it.

Adeline was only four years old when doctors found a tumor on her brain. After she had surgery, she was granted a wish.

“At the time, kindergarten, this is where she was spending the majority of her time,” Summer Ory, Adeline’s mom, said. “This was a whole new place for her you know, and it will be where she spends the majority of her time for the next foreseeable years.”

“And still to this day on the weekends she’ll be a nose in a book,” Adeline’s dad Dan said.

So the first grader decided she wanted to give her old school library a brand new look.

“You never know what a child is going to wish for,” Sara Kurovski, CEO of Make-A-Wish Iowa, said. “And she shocked us all by wishing for her school’s library to have some improvements: books and furniture and color. And today it has all come true.”
