Iowa student charged for making ‘terrorist threats’ toward classmate, police said.

A Pleasant Hill student is facing charges for making threats toward his classmate last week, authorities said.

The Pleasant Hill Police Department and school officials received information about a threat directed at a student who attends Southeast Polk Junior High School on Feb. 9, authorities said in a news release.

Authorities and school officials worked together throughout the weekend to investigate the threats before tracking them to one source.

A fellow student was identified as a suspect and is now facing terrorist threat charges, the news release said. The student was not identified because they are a minor and Iowa law restricts access to juvenile court records.

This is just one of multiple threats schools have been facing this year since a shooting at Perry High School on Jan. 4.

Earlier this month on Feb. 4, a bomb threat interrupted an Iowa High School Speech Association competition in Ankeny. Police later determined it was a non-credible threat, based on interviews with the people involved.
