Police identify motorcyclist who died in weekend 2nd Ave. crash

DES MOINES, Iowa — Police have released the name of a man who died in a weekend motorcycle crash in Des Moines.

The Des Moines Police Department has identified Jerome Mozee, 24, as the person who died in the crash in the 1800 block of 2nd Avenue early Saturday morning.

Police say Mozee was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed and as the motorcycle approached another southbound vehicle it went down on the roadway, the motorcycle then went into the northbound lanes where it was struck by a northbound vehicle.

Mozee, of Des Moines, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The technical crash investigation continues.
