The National Weather Service in Des Moines said there is a marginal risk of isolated severe storms across the state on Thursday.
Areas of central and northern Iowa may see multiple rounds of showers throughout the day. The primary threats include damaging winds and large hail. Locally heavy rain and tornadoes are also possible.
The NWS said morning rain and storms aren’t expected to pose much of a threat, but afternoon systems are expected to be stronger.
What is the Des Moines forecast on the 4th of July?
Des Moines will see period of partly sunny skies reaching a high of 82 degrees between rain showers, the NWS forecast says.
Into the night, there’s a 30% chance of storms and rainfall before 9 p.m., leaving the possibility for fireworks shows to go on as planned. The low will dip down to around 63 degrees.
