NEWTON – A crash in rural Jasper County on Wednesday night resulted in the death of a Des Moines man. According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State patrol, on Wednesday night, around 11:50pm, 41-year-old Michael Croy of Des Moines was driving a Mercury Cougar northbound on Highway S-74 south in Jasper County when the vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a Ford F450 driven by 62-year-old Karl Peters of Monroe. The F450 came to rest in the west ditch, while the Cougar came to rest in the roadway. Authorities arrived and pronounced Croy dead at the scene. Peters suffered minor injuries and was transported to Mercy One Newton for medical services.
