Ako Abdul-Samad concerned about recent gun violence in Des Moines. Can it be stopped?

DES MOINES, Iowa – Four people died in a 24-hour span this week in Des Moines, including asuspect who opened fire on officers after fleeing from a traffic stop. That suspect has not been identified, but police say the 37-year-old man from Carlisle “violently struggled” with officers who attempted to take him into custody early Sunday morning. He pulled a gun and wounded two officers before they returned fire and killed him, according to authorities.
