DES MOINES, Iowa – Hispanic Heritage Month is underway, and local leader Rob Barron emphasizes the importance of Latino representation in politics. “My dad ran for Des Moines City Council in 1979 – which is the year I was born,” Barron said. “And he ran, he was an underdog, he didn’t win.”
