New law bumps up teacher pay, but some Iowa Districts say they’re still short on subs

DES MOINES, Iowa – A bump in teacher pay this school year is part of the controversial law reforming Iowa’s nine area education agencies. It increased starting teacher salaries to $47,500 this school year and to $50,000 next school year. Teachers who have at least 12 years of experience are getting $60,000 and $62,000 next school year under the new law.
