Stephens Auditorium and Iowa State Creamery team up on Shrek-inspired ice cream

The ISU Creamery is paying homage to an ogre in October.

With “Shrek the Musical” set to take the stage at Stephens Auditorium at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, the student-run creamery is offering a special edition of its Wintersgreen ice cream.

The minty green Shrek ice cream is now available in the Creamery’s store, located on the second floor of the Food Sciences Building. It will also be available for purchase the night of the show at Stephens.

“We can’t wait to welcome this new Shrek production to our stage,” Tammy Koolbeck, Stephens Auditorium’s executive director, said in a news release. “It’s going to be such a great evening for families to enjoy Broadway.”

A unique student ice cream experience

The Iowa State Creamery produces 5,000 gallons of ice cream each year, along with 600 pounds of cheddar cheese and curds. Its products can be purchased at the creamery, the Student Innovation Center, or its online store . The ISU Creamery opened in 2020 and has employed more than 50 students in the four years since.
