DES MOINES, Iowa — A West Des Moines man has been charged in connection to a crash that killed a pedestrian in a parking lot.
On October 21 the Des Moines Police Department and Fire Department responded to a grocery store parking lot in the 2500 block of East Euclid Avenue on a report of a crash. When first responders arrived on scene they found 67-year-old Sheila Kay Albert had been hit by a car and was critically injured. Albert was transported to a nearby hospital, but died from her injuries a few days later.

Jordan Allen, 35, was identified as the driver of the vehicle that struck Albert. According to police, evidence gathered during the investigation revealed that the crash could have been avoided.
On Friday Allen was arrested and charged with Involuntary Manslaughter (aggravated misdemeanor) in connection to the crash. Allen is currently being held at the Polk County Jail.
