Iowa Department of Education Ranks 12 Des Moines Schools in Bottom 5%

(Des Moines, IA) — 12 schools in the Des Moines Independent Community School District were ranked in the bottom 5% in the state in terms of overall performance. The Iowa Department of Education recently released its annual Iowa School Performance Profiles report, which ranks all schools in Iowa on students’ academic performance. 12 DMPS schools were in the bottom 5%, while three rose out of the bottom 5%. DMPS Superintendent Dr. Ian Roberts says the report clarifies which schools the district needs to target with additional support.
