DES MOINES, Iowa — Polk County’s top administrator has been placed on administrative leave.
Polk County Community Relations Specialist Jon Cahill confirmed County Administrator John Norris is on administrative leave but declined further comment because it is a personnel matter.

According to The Des Moines Register , Norris was escorted out of the Polk County Administration Building on Friday. As an administrator, Norris works with county leaders to develop the annual budget.
In March of 2023, Polk County Supervisor Matt McCoy filed a lawsuit against Norris and four of his fellow supervisors. In January of last year, McCoy agreed to dismiss the lawsuit. Just last week McCoy was elected chair of the Polk County Board of Supervisors.
