DES MOINES, Iowa — A fire hydrant slowed down traffic on Grand Avenue in downtown after it was knocked into the road by a Street Smarts car.
Just before 6 p.m. the Des Moines Police Department responded to Grand Avenue and Sixth Avenue on reports of a crash involving a fire hydrant.

Officers arrived and identified a vehicle owned by Street Smarts Driver Education and found that a fire hydrant had come to rest on Grand Avenue following the crash.
