Iowa organization celebrates a decade of serving the homeless

DES MOINES, Iowa — This weekend the Urban Bicycle Food Ministry is commemorating its 10th anniversary.

The organization started with just one person in 2015 and has grown to include 50 volunteers while serving the most vulnerable in Des Moines.

Every Thursday, year-round, rain or shine, the ministry delivers meals to homeless people. A lot has changed since its inception, with Des Moines implementing a camping ban and a shortage of affordable housing continuing to be an issue…
