Ames police arrest, charge man for attempted murder, robbery in February

An Ames man has been arrested in connection to a shooting that took place in February that involved three people, according to an Ames Police Department press release.

Maliek Dut, 22, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree robbery and attempted murder.

February shooting leaves one injured

A 19-year-old victim told police on Feb. 27 that he was shot by two males around 1 a.m. in the 2500 block of Jensen Avenue. The area is a block northeast of Ace Hardware, which sits at the corner of 24th Street and Jensen, near an apartment complex.

The victim told officers he was taken to Mary Greely Medical Center by a private vehicle, according to an Ames PD press release. He was later reported to be in “stable” condition.
