The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged a Grimes man, accusing him of severely injuring his 3-month-old infant, who suffered broken bones and a brain bleed.
Nurses at a Des Moines hospital alerted the Iowa Department of Human Services after the infant was admitted to the emergency room with the injuries March 7, according to a news release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The infant was subsequently life-flighted to Iowa City for advanced medical treatment because of the severity of the injuries, the news release said. DHS officials notified and reported the extent of the injuries to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office that evening…
