Casual restaurant 30hop skips into bigger space with a new look in Ankeny

After two years in the District at Prairie Trail in Ankeny, 30hop made a move into bigger space at the outdoor shopping center. Customers can see the restaurant from the old location, only the new 9,000-square-foot restaurant offers a new design on the first floor of a building built from scratch with a towering view of the lawn where much of the live entertainment takes place.

The restaurant, which got its start in 2014 when it opened in Coralville’s Iowa River Landing with the first rooftop patio in the area, includes a 1,000-square-foot patio that looks out on the lawn, as well as a 40-seat bar with 64 taps.

“The upgrade and square footage was definitely one of the two biggest reasons for the move,” said 30hop owner and operator Darin Blum. “Another one being that we had another concept that we could backfill the old space.”…
