DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines woman was booked into the Polk County Jail Wednesday on charges for allegedly stealing narcotics from rehabilitation centers she worked at and falsifying records to cover up the theft.
Miranda Vanover, 33, is charged with two counts of prohibited act — schedule I, II or III controlled substance, two counts of tampering with records, and one count of dependent adult abuse-caretaker dependent adult abuse by exploitation.

Court documents claim that Vanover, a Certified Nursing Assistant, made false entries on narcotics logs while working at Pine Acres Rehabilitation in West Des Moines between December 2021 and April 2023. She allegedly created the logs to conceal the theft of at least 57 doses of Oxycodone that were intended for patients.
She is also accused of similar actions at the Rehabilitation Center of Des Moines between March and December of 2023. She is accused of taking multiple doses of Hydrocodone that were intended for patients and doctoring the logs to cover up the theft.
According to the Direct Care Worker Registry & Health Facility Database provided by the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals and Licensing, Vanover’s CNA license is valid until April 24, 2026…
