Iowa superintendent in hot water over Facebook post targeting pharma

The superintendent of two northeast Iowa school districts is facing the revocation of his contract extension following a controversial Facebook post.

Nick Trenkamp, who leads both the Central Elkader and Eastern Allamakee Community School Districts, has been on leave for over a month, according to a report by the Des Moines Register.

The report states that Trenkamp’s Facebook post expressed support for a proposal by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to ban “big pharma” from advertising on TV. Trenkamp reportedly supported the ban because the pharmaceutical companies “promote homosexuality and obesity.”…
