As spring continues to advance, the nicer weather draws people to the outdoors.
Iowa Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer Jeremy King says that in recent weeks, he’s seen many individuals out enjoying their time outside, whether it be hunting or fishing. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that for those looking to catch some fish, there are a few that are a little easier to try and catch at this time of year.
“The walleye, they’re pretty well done with their spawning run, but they’re now putting on what we like to refer to as the ‘feed bags’ after that spawn. They like to build that energy back up. So they’re pretty aggressively eating right now. So it’s a great time to get out there. The crappies are just starting to shift towards their spawning, which means they’re getting closer to the bank where you can actually go along the shore and rocky areas and almost sight fish those with a little jig or a minnow along the shoreline and watch those crappie eat your bait.”…
