Nearly 90 Iowa veterans boarded the 55th Eastern Iowa Honor Flight for a powerful, all-expenses-paid journey to Washington, D.C. The group—made up mostly of Vietnam veterans—is spending the day visiting memorials built in their honor, sharing memories, and reflecting on their service.
Today’s flight is extra special. It’s funded by the estate of the late Vietnam veteran Keith Romstad, who passed away in 2023. Although Keith never made the trip himself, his close friend and fellow veteran Duane “Sandy” Sands made sure his legacy would live on through this mission.
