DES MOINES, Iowa — DART will again offer its Park & Ride shuttle to Iowa State Fair goers after providing a record-breaking 272,000 rides in 2024.
The first shuttles begin boarding at 8 a.m. every day of the fair, August 7-17. Shuttle service ends at midnight, except on Sunday, Aug. 17, when the fair closes early.
Though the shuttles don’t run on a set schedule, they leave every 10-15 minutes on average.
Park & Ride locations
All buses drop off riders at Gate 10 at the fairgrounds. Buses will depart from the following locations, all of which offer free parking.
- 7th and Center Street Parking Garage, Downtown Des Moines
- Iowa State Capitol, East Village
- Southeast Polk High School, Pleasant Hill
Ticket prices and how to purchase
Shuttle rides cost $3 and cover both the trip to the fairgrounds and the return trip to the Park & Ride location. The following groups can receive discounted ticket prices:
- Riders ages 6-10, 65 and older, Medicare cardholders and persons with disabilities can purchase tickets for $1.
- Veterans can ride free on Monday, August 11, for Veterans Day at the Iowa State Fair.
- Children 5 and under ride free, but DART asks that guardians pick up or download a free ticket.
