DES MOINES, Iowa — Blank Park Zoo is introducing patrons to the newest member of the zoo family: Taro, a baby Japanese macaque, was born on June 17.
The zoo said his mother, Anika, is “showing strong maternal behavior.” Taro, whose name is Japanese for “eldest son,” is her first baby.
