Iowa’s fentanyl crisis: Des Moines duo caught in deadly trade

DES MOINES, Iowa — Two men from Des Moines have received federal prison sentences for their roles in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy.

Ajang Malou Wour, 43, and Omar Mohamed Nurani, 22, were involved in trafficking fentanyl pills and powder. Wour, who started his operations in the summer of 2023 after finished a term of federal supervised release, distributed over 60,000 pills and 40 ounces of powder. Nurani frequently received pills from Wour and resold them.

In June 2024, Nurani sold pills to a customer who later overdosed and died. Despite this, both men continued their illegal activities. Nurani distributed over 2,000 pills and eight ounces of powder…
