Mother, son arrested in violent Ankeny home invasion

ANKENY, Iowa — A mother and son are facing charges connected to a violent home invasion that happened earlier this month in Ankeny.

Gemiere Goodwin, 27, and Merrelita Kintz, 45, are being held in the Polk County Jail. They are both charged with:

  • Attempted Murder
  • Burglary 1st Degree
  • Robbery 1st Degree
  • Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury
  • Theft 2nd Degree
  • Unauthorized Use of Credit Card

The Ankeny Police Department said the charges are connected to a July 1 burglary in which an elderly victim was beaten and strangled, and suffered serious injuries. The victim was treated for the injuries at the hospital and later released.
