A man and woman from Iowa received stiff prison sentences for kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and tying her up before slashing her throat and running her over several times with a vehicle — all in a futile attempt to prevent a previous domestic violence case from going forward.
Jordan Blake Mangum, 42, was sentenced Friday to up to 45 years behind bars and must serve more than 22 years before he is eligible for parole. His co-defendant, 36-year-old Jessica Ann Marie Wheeler, received a 35-year prison sentence and must serve more than 17 years before she’s up for parole.
Mangum entered an Alford plea last month to attempted murder, third-degree kidnapping, assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic abuse.
