Grimes man charged after baby hospitalized with serious injuries

GRIMES, Iowa — A Grimes man has been charged in connection with the hospitalization of a baby Thursday morning.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, at around 3:40 a.m., deputies were called to a home in the 600 block of NE Jacob Street in Grimes after the Johnston-Grimes Fire Department responded to a report of a 2-month-old who wasn’t breathing. Life-saving measures were taken, and the baby was transported to a nearby hospital.

A child endangerment investigation was launched, which the sheriff’s office announced has resulted in the arrest of Dylan James Brown, 23. Brown has been charged with felony child endangerment-serious injury, felony domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow, and two counts of felony willful injury-causing serious injury.
