A Jefferson man was arrested in Perry for allegedly possessing illegal drugs.
According to court documents, a Perry Police Officer made contact with a driver of a vehicle just after midnight, because the vehicle was parked at Pattee Park, which the park was currently closed due to a city ordinance. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Royce Gonnelly of Jefferson, told the officer that he didn’t possess a driver’s license, because he was barred from driving.
Court documents show that the officer noticed a glass smoking device in the front passenger seat and a probable cause search of the vehicle was done. Several drug-related items were recovered from the vehicle, which later tested positive for marijuana and some pills that were a scheduled four controlled substance. Gonnelly was then arrested and charged with two Class D Felonies for his third or subsequent offense for a controlled substance violation, an aggravated misdemeanor for driving while barred, two serious misdemeanors for his first offense for possession of marijuana and two simple misdemeanors for possession of drug paraphernalia…
