Beloved red panda at Blank Park Zoo has died

DES MOINES, Iowa — A red panda at the Blank Park Zoo who stole the hearts of many has died.

The zoo announced on Facebook Friday that Razz, their male red panda, passed away earlier this week at the age of 14. Razz was the oldest red panda at the zoo and had been under close observation, as the zoo said his health had been naturally declining with his age.

Razz was born on June 14, 2011 and first visited the zoo in 2012 before moving to another zoo. He returned to the Blank Park Zoo in the summer of 2021. He loved many fruity treats like apples, pears, and berries.

According to the zoo, red pandas can live up to eight to ten years in the wild and can reach up to 15 years old under human care…
