A year of ‘possibility’ | DMPS superintendent looks ahead to upcoming school year

DES MOINES, Iowa — Students in Des Moines Public Schools return to the classroom Monday.

Ahead of the first day back to school, Local 5 spoke with DMPS Superintendent Dr. Ian Roberts for a one-on-one interview.

Preschool

After launching a limited pilot program last school year, the district announced its plans to offer transportation for all preschool locations in February.

“What we saw last year was an impact on increasing how many people were able to access our amazing preschool programs,” Roberts said. “We’re going to build on that and have some continuity this year and continue to have bus services for preschool students. We are committed to full-day quality preschools to every single student who is eligible.”…
