Des Moines police arrest three in weekend shooting that injured man

DES MOINES, Iowa — Three arrests have been made in connection with a shooting that injured one person in Des Moines last weekend.

Sgt. Paul Parizek, Public Information Officer for the Des Moines Police Department, said the following individuals were arrested as part of the investigation. They are:

  • 23-year-old Rickey Meneweather — charged with attempted murder
  • 19-year-old Adam Tennih — charged with interference with official acts-firearm, persons ineligible to carry dangerous weapons, possession of a controlled substance-marijuana
  • 22-year-old Antonio Alexander — charged with felon in possession of a firearm, accessory after the fact

The shooting happened at a convenience store in the 100 block of University Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 23rd. Sgt. Parizek said the man who was shot was critically injured in the incident and remains hospitalized.

The investigation led detectives to stop a vehicle in the 2700 block of Hubbell Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. Tennih and Meneweather were in the vehicle, and police said Tennih ran, dropping a gun as he fled from officers. A K-9 team was called in to help track him, and he was found hiding in a garage. Tennih and Meneweather were both taken into custody.
