Des Moines’ public art scene is ticking up with the recent unveiling of “TimePiece,” a 3D LED installation by Des Moines-based artist and filmmaker Oyoram.
How it works: Unlike a traditional clock, “TimePiece” also functions as a performance.
- At the top of each hour, a digital mechanical arm activates, removing and replacing the clock face in a choreographed display of light and motion.
Zoom in: Oyoram (Yorame Mevorach) is an internationally recognized visual artist whose career includes immersive video scenographies for Dior, Louis Vuitton, Cartier and others.
- Locally, you may recognize his glowing “Hulking Giants” that adorn the corners of his Sherman Hill studio near Hoyt Sherman Place.
