There are efforts in Illinois and Missouri to decrease the population of black vultures, which prey on young livestock creating financial losses for farmers.
The Illinois Farm Bureau, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, United States Fish and Wildlife Service and USDA Wildlife Service created a hunting permit process in 2021 to assist livestock producers.
