A Dawson man was recently taken into custody on a warrant for illegally being in possession of a firearm.
According to court documents, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office was in the midst of an ongoing investigation involving 56-year-old William Edward Love on August 13th. The criminal complaint states that Love was being interviewed by the Sheriff’s office on a separate matter and openly admitted that he had weapons inside his household. Court documents show that a subsequent review was done on Love’s criminal history and revealed that he had a prior felony conviction in 2003 for drug-related offenses, which legally prohibits him from possessing firearms.
A search warrant was applied for by the Sheriff’s office on August 15th and while waiting for judicial authorization, Love voluntarily told deputies that there were weapons stored in his attic where 10 firearms were located.
