Iowa falls to No. 16 Iowa State for the second year in a row, and it really is a heartbreaker for the Hawkeyes and head coach Kirk Ferentz. The long-time Iowa coach was on deck to make history today because, with a win, he could become the all-time leading coach in wins in Big Ten history, but he will have to wait another week for that honor.
In a close and hard-fought matchup, Iowa fell 16-13 in the low-scoring, defensive-led game. Iowa had a chance at the end of the game with the ball just below two minutes left in the fourth, but the offense just could not move the ball at all and after taking two sacks and having no timeouts, Iowa ultimately fell to its hated rival.

This was a game of defense as the game had a total of 29 points scored, just like the matchup from a year ago. Offense just simply wasn’t there for both teams, but Iowa just can’t seem to find an answer on that side of the ball. Quarterback Mark Gronowski only had 83 passing yards with only 13 completions on 24 attempts, but the run game was there a bit more with a total of 131 yards adn the lone touchdown scored for the Hawkeyes…
