WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Children’s Museum is moving out of Valley West Mall to a new location in West Des Moines.
DSMCM announced on Monday that it would relocate to the former site of the Des Moines Golf and Country Club at 1200 12th Street in the spring of 2026. The non-profit said the new facility would allow for more space to enhance current exhibits and add new ones. The new space has over 13,000 square feet on the main level and a similarly sized lower level. The property also offers more than seven acres of outdoor space.

The museum has been open for the last seven years on the lower level of Valley West Mall. Officials said finding a permanent home has been a goal of the organization, one that was also prompted by the impending redevelopment of the mall.
