Seahorses make their debut at Blank Park Zoo

DES MOINES, Iowa — Some new residents have moved in at the Blank Park Zoo.

Zoo officials announced in a post on Facebook Tuesday that Line Seahorses, or Hippocampus Erectus, are now on display just outside of the Discovery Center.

The seahorses were captive-bred and came from North Carolina as part of an AZA Species Survival Plan. According to the zoo, Line Seahorses face threats like habitat loss, overfishing, and water pollution.
