Des Moines City Council approves plan to redevelop area around Riverview Park

DES MOINES, Iowa — Big changes are coming to the area around Riverview Park on the north side of Des Moines.

On Monday, the Des Moines City Council gave approval to the Riverview Urban Renewal Plan, which aims to bring new housing, businesses and commercial spaces to a 59-acre area around the park.

The centerpiece of the plan is a $7.4 million rowhome development set to be built on three acres of empty land at 2814 Seventh St., once occupied by the Des Moines Cold Storage Facility…
