DES MOINES, Iowa — A $265 million bond referendum for Des Moines Public Schools’ Reimagine Education plan has received enough signatures to be placed on the November ballot, campaign organizers announced on Monday.
Reimagine Education is a five-year plan aimed at improving student experiences within the district. Officials say the plan entails opening more signature schools, expanding its Diploma+ program, enhancing facilities, and more.

The district says that the bond is needed to achieve the plan’s goals, as drops in enrollment over the last several years has led to a reduction of roughly $16 million in state funding.
