Northwest Iowa Groups Receive Funding to Prevent Homelessness

Two northwest Iowa organizations are receiving state funding to strengthen efforts to keep families in their homes.

The Iowa Finance Authority has awarded more than $1.3 million statewide through its new Homelessness Prevention Fund, with a share coming to local groups. Upper Des Moines Opportunity will receive more than $80,000 to serve residents in Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Palo Alto, and Pocahontas counties. Family Crisis Centers will get $65,000 to support communities in Cherokee, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Plymouth, and Sioux counties…
